Cross - Cultural Music at River of Life

River of Life's singers include: African immigrants, American nationals, those who read music and those who sing by ear; in short: we are a diverse group! Songs featuring the choir alternate between African songs and Western-style multi-part songs. The choir also introduces the congregation to new African songs and encourages EVERYONE to sing.

Two of our music leaders, Steve and Presley, are working closely to create River of Life's VERY OWN SONGBOOK, compiling some old favorite hymns that are not in the current hymnals, AND African songs. Presley has been teaching and Steve has been writing out the music for these songs from Liberia and the refugee camps in Ghana. In time we could offer a compilation to the larger church, especially congregations in the U.S. with African immigrants!

Offering Praise Music

All are welcome to join in the music, drumming and movement at the back of the sanctuary while the Offering is being gathered. We call this "Offering Praise Music" and while it is often an African song, anyone can join in from their seats or from the back. It's time to move and make a joyful noise!
