Worship Assistants
Every week a number of congregation members are involved in various aspects of the worship service. We would be unable to provide meaningful services without their faithful commitment, and always welcome the participation of anyone that wishes to be a worship assistant. If you'd like to be involved in any of the ways listed here, or have any ideas for any other way you'd like to get involved, please don't hesitate to talk to Pastor LeeAnn or any other leaders. You can also call or email the church any time for more info; you can find contact information here.
Altar Guild: In January 2010, River of Life honored our longtime woman of the altar for her years of faithful service, and asked her to bless a new team of altar guild helpers. The altar guild changes the colors of the paraments (altar cloths) for the season, tends the candles, and sets up and puts away the communion ware. Contact Kris Webb to join this group.
Assisting Minister: Each week a lay member seated opposite the pastor in the chancel is responsible for the opening prayer, readings including the Psalm, assisting with Communion serving the bread and blessing children, assisting with baptisms and other special rites, and giving the final dismissal.
Communion Assistants: come forward from the congregation at the time of the distribution of Communion to serve the wine or grape juice.
Readers: are responsible only for the first reading assigned to the day, which are always sent to them the week before. Advance lectionary readings can be found here
Ushers: In February 2010 River of Life honored our long-time usher, who then blessed the new team of ushers. These are the people who greet you at the door each Sunday, count attendance, collect the offering and pick up stray bulletins after worship. For the most current usher schedule, click here.
