Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
While critically ill and facing possible death in my late teens God drew me closer in relationship, nurtured my faith, and taught me to rely on His faithfulness, regardless whether I died or lived. The lessons and comfort I received from God have remained a treasure to apply in caring for others.
I retired from full time ministry in late 2018 having served three separate calls: Chaplain at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 1978-1998; Senior Pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 1998-2004; and, Executive Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Owatonna, Minnesota, from 2004-2018.
God used these ministry experiences coupled with my clinical pastoral training to equip me uniquely to serve as Intentional Interim Pastor for River of Life.
Sue and I have been married since May 1977. We are blessed with three children and three grandchildren. With retirement we moved back to Lincoln, NE, to be physically closer to our children and with a desire to be more intimately involved in life and faith with them and their children.
My hobbies include distance bicycling, wilderness canoeing/camping along the U.S./Canada border, motorcycle touring, landscaping, and designing and building custom furniture.
